Nine of the best poker players in the world will be sitting around the World Series of Poker final table on Thursday August 9 from 2 pm. The nine skilled poker players will be battling for the title as well as for the 12 million dollars prize. The 2006 WSOP event takes place at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on ESPN channel.
The 37th annual World Series of Poker is the richest in the poker history. Only one of the nine players would go home with the World Series of Poker champions bracelet, but all of them will step out of the WSOP Main Events millionaires.
The nine poker pros and soon to become millionaires are:
- Jamie Gold, a television producer from California who learned to play poker from his mother.
- Allen Cunningham, a 29 years old from Las Vegas is one of the most promising young poker talents in the world.
- Richard Lee is a Honolulu born investor who has been playing poker for 40 years. It is Lees second appearance at the WSOP.
- Erik Friberg is a 23 years old professional poker player from Stockholm, Sweden.
- Paul Wasicka aka Kwickfish is a 25 years old self taught poker player of Westminster, Colorado.
- Douglas Kim is a 22 years old financial consultant of Hartsdale, N.Y who has been playing poker for 4 years.
- Rhett Butler is a 44 years old insurance agent from Rockville who has been playing poker since he was 11.
- Michael Binger of California describe himself as a full time pro poker player and a part time theoretical physicist.
- Dan Nassif is a 33 year old account executive of St. Louis who plays at the WSOP for the third time.
