91 blackjack players came to Towaoc to compete for a seat in the World Series of Blackjack.

Blackjack Satellite in Towaoc Ends

Ute Mountain Casino convention center hosted the World Series of Blackjack 2006 satellite tournaments. The winner of the final tournament that took place on Saturday received a seat at the World Series of Blackjack 2006 in Las Vegas and an opportunity to win 500,000 dollars first prize. More than 90 professional blackjack players from across the state came to Towaoc to compete for a seat in the World Series of Blackjack 2006.

The tournament winner was Charles Montoya of Farmington, N.M, who went home with 3,150 dollars and a seat at the World Series of Blackjack that will take place in the last week of February and the first week of March. GSN network filmed the tournament and will film the World Series of Blackjack at the Las Vegas Hilton. The first of the 13 episodes will broadcast from the beginning of June.

Participating in the World Series of Blackjack 2006 satellite tournaments required 100 dollars entry fee. The 21 participants who managed to get to the semifinals earned back their entry fee. The players who reached the final table won cash prizes.
