New games in South Zanesville center raises questions about its legality.

Game of Skill or Slots?

Treasure Cove Skills Center, opened a couple of months ago, and introduced a new game to the residents and neighbors of South Zanesville. The center has 50 machines with more than slight resemblance to the slot machine common in Las Vegas casino. Tim Nolan the owner and the operator of the centre claims that it is not a casino game but a game of skill.

According to Nolan, the difference between the machines in his center and slot machines is that unlike in casinos, in the center the person who is playing in the machines can stop them from working. That is what makes it a game of skill instead of chance, and this is what makes the Treasure Cove Skills Center legal. Even though you have to put money in the machines and money prizes are given.

The County Sheriffs Office received complaints about the center but they seem to agree with Nolan about the differences between the center and casino games. He says that his goal was to suggest the area another pastime activity. It seems that he managed to accomplish his goal, with the center open every day and always full.
