A man who describes himself as a "professional advantage gambler" has written a book on the subject of gambling and is now asking the Supreme Court for his big jackpot.
The man is asking the court to force he Imperial Palace to pay him $150,000 because they had him Handcuffed and searched in early 2001. He also wants permission to sue the state for the involvement of 2 state gamming agents.
The man did win a court case but the judge dramatically lowered the limit of his win. His appeal will go before the Nevada Supreme court this week.
The man’s lawyer says $150,000 which was half of hat he was originally looking for is a drop in the bucket for the casino and they feel they should have the right to sure the state for their involvement.
The Casino wants the state to throw the case out. Their argument is there officers were acting as agents of the state and should be immune from the suite against the state.
The man and his friends were being watched by state agents on feb 28th 2001. They had been arrested in the past by gaming agents for allegedly cheating the casinos, but charges were never filed.
Agents said they were keeping their eyes on the pair and lost them in a Harrah’s Casino. An agent then called the imperial Palace and told them to be on the look for these men.
When the man arrived at the Imperial Palace Casino he was stopped and handcuffed by the Casino Security. He was taken to a room and was searched. The Casino claims the state told them to detain the man but the state is denying this.
The state says they never wanted the man to know he was being watched so why would they want him detained.
