The Missouri Gaming Commission Executive Director announced on Wednesday at a press conference that he will be resigning from his job affective April 15th to take a different job.
At the commissions monthly meeting the Gaming Commissioner told the commission he will be stepping down to take a position as General Counsel and government affairs director for Gaming Laboratories International Inc.
The firm, which is based in Lakewood NJ, tests gambling equipment such as slot machines, lottery machines and other gambling related equipment around the world. Missouri Law requires that all their slot machines be tested and certified to insure that all machines make at least the minimum payouts and other specifications. Missouri has decided that all the slot machines and other gambling equipment must be checked and certified by the gaming laboratories.
Chief Deputy Director has been appointed acting director of the commission.,
The former Director told the Business Journal his plan had always been to move on into the private sector by May 2007, following his daughter's graduation from high school.
He is starting his new job as of April 17th 2007 and will work for his first year from his home in Jefferson City and doing lots of traveling Gaming Laboratories April 17 and will work for the first year out of house in Jefferson City, he said, "with a lot of traveling." Following the first year, Mullally said it is most likely he will then work out of the firm's Las Vegas office.
Gaming Laboratories has offices in Las Vegas, Nev., and Golden, Colo., as well as Australia, Italy, South Africa and The Netherlands. The former Director said he would remain in Jefferson City until his daughter graduates but that it means he will do a lot of traveling.
