The Senate passed amendments to the added indoor smoking ban allowing excluding racetracks, bars and private memberships clubs. According to the law amendment approved Monday, smoking will be allowed in bars that do not serve food and private membership clubs and non-restaurant spaces at racetracks. Denver Democrat Dan Grossman, opposed approving those exclusions. He claimed that the law should consider the workers who are damaged from working in an unhealthy environment. Centennial Republican Sen. Jim Dyer said the ban smoking House Bill is hypocrite, since the businesses that were excluded are those who had strong lobbyists. Eventually, 15 of the 19 senators voted for an amended version of House Bill 1175. The bill has to wait to the senate approval before returning to the House. |
