Learn to play smartly with this set of useful tips.

Blackjack Tips

Read and use these general tips for playing and winning blackjack and other casino games:

  • Be cool and rational. Do not let your emotions overcome your intellect. Casino games require concentration and intelligent approach. Any emotions can only harm your play.
  • Do not drink. Although they say drunks are lucky, do not believe this prejudice. Sober and smart play is always more profitable.
  • Be optimistic. Remember that any bad luck sequence will end up sooner or later and you will finally win.
  • If you keep losing, quit or change the table.
  • Set a loss limit. Remember that you can only bet extra money. Everyday expenses, rent and other payments are untouchable.
  • If you feel tired, quit or rest for an hour or two.
  • Never play the game you do not know. Learn all basic and house rules BEFORE you sit at the table. You can always ask casino personnel, read books or use Internet to learn any game. It is also advisable to practice before you wager serious money. You can use 25 cent blackjack or poker machines and computer games for this purpose.

Tips Pertaining to Blackjack:

The less decks are dealt, the more your odds are. One deck game is the most profitable. Two decks game reduces your advantage against one deck game for 0.35 percent; four-deck, 0.48 percent; six-deck, 0.54 percent and eight decks, 0.58 percent. As you see, the most serious difference is between one and two decks games. Four and more decks do not change much, so if the choice is between multi-decks games, but the tables with more decks has other advantageous rules, it still can be more profitable.

Here is a list of optional house rules that give advantage to the player:

  • The game is dealt from a single deck.
  • Any kind of surrender allowed.
  • Double down allowed on any two cards and after splitting.
  • Multiple splitting and re-splitting aces.
  • Dealer stands on soft 17.
  • Deep deck penetration.
It is always advisable to look for a blackjack table that has most of these rules and to check a number of casinos before you find the most profitable table.
